I started with patterning the whole sword by hand on a paper… which I learned is a terrible mistake latter on when we need multiple pieces of the pattern (so I did it on the computer for my Engine Blade).
The Sword is made of foam and covered in worbla latter, and there is a LED strip along the blade which I am trying to mimic the light when it is charging in game. Because of the weird shape of the blade, Akhu has to try two fiberglass rods and using sintra in the middle… (don’t think we will do it again… it is super hard to shape after).
We intentionally made the blade thicker to hold the LED.
Then worbla and detail time~!!! It is my first time working with worbla… ya… there are many places I can improve.
For this project I prime it with wood glue after Akhu did some basic sanding (which we improved a lot in the second sword). I used a metallic black spray paint as the base coat, and did the paint by hand.
The handle is made of foam and PVC pipe to hide the battery (we made it thicker but then learned a better way to power up and could change… rip). We hand wrapped the handle the way that Japanese do.
